What goes into the surf score.
Swell period carries the most weight, then swell size, wind and swell direction. Offshore wind helps. Onshore wind over about 5 knots drags the score down.
Size matters differently here than in Perth. Above about 3.7 metres the surfing score drops off, because that's big-wave territory.

A south-west swell with a south-east wind can suit one break and blow out the next. Checking a few spots side by side is the quickest way to pick where to go.
